Jay Peak Resort in Vermont is continuing its massive snowfall streak, with another 20 inches of new snow falling on the mountain in the last 24 hours and more still coming. With their newest snowfall, their season total is up to a remarkable 177 inches, or just under 15 feet.

8 inches of snow fell during they day on Thursday, December 11th, with another 8-12 falling overnight last night. The morning started with The Metro, Taxi, Stateside, & Tramside moving carpets spinning on the lower mountain and Bonaventure Quad spinning on the upper mountain. As of 11:38am local time, both the Tram and the Jet Triple are closed for the day due to wind.

At 177 inches, Jay Peak is quickly approaching the 200 inch mark. The last time that was accomplished before the New Year was back in 2003 when it hit 200 inches on December 27th. There’s no guarantee that the resort will make it there this year, but forecaster Tim Kelly is tracking a potential Norโ€™easter that could hit Sunday into Monday, bringing the total even higher.

Huge shoutout to the Grooming Crew working hard to ensure that there’s some fresh corduroy laid down on 45 trails overnight during a what could likely be considered a proper blizzard. It’s looking to be a good powder-filled weekend up at Jay Peak!
