The benefit of Red Bull sponsoring a whole bunch of different athlete varieties is that they can attempt to pull off wild and whacky stunts like this one whenever they desire.

9 cyclists from Red Bull โ€“ BORA โ€“ hansgrohe, one of the top cycling teams in the world, met up with pilot Andy Hediger to attempt launching a glider with nothing but human leg power. There’s not much that says “Red Bull gives you wings” quite like this.

In becoming the first cyclists to tow a plane into flight using pure human power, the team hit a speed of 54km/h, or around 33.3 mph, and averaged 650 watts over the 90-second all out effort. Engineer Dan Bigham helped to get the team locked together with the specially designed harness, allowing for the united effort.
