Professional mountain biker Adolf Silva recently shared his first words following a brutal crash at Red Bull Rampage that left him with a a severe spinal cord injury at the T3–T4 level. Silva intends to release more episodes in a video series called “STILL LOCO”, documenting what it’s really like to go through a spinal cord injury while inspiring and helping as many people as possible.
The injury has left Silva without feeling from the chest down, but his spirit remains strong. Road 2 Recovery, a non-profit designed for professionally licensed athletes after sustaining a career-ending injury, shared further details on his recovery process yesterday. According to their post, he battled some sternum pain and upper body stiffness earlier this week, but a massage from his occupational therapist helped him loosen up.
Yesterday, Thursday, October 30th, Silva woke up with a little back pain. During his therapy, he was able to take on a standing exercise and took his very first steps after the injury.
He has a long road to recovery, but he’s already showing his bravery and strength. There’s a lot ahead of him, and you can support his journey through encouragement and financial assistance through Road 2 Recovery.
