Colorado's Keystone Resort is getting closer and closer to opening day.

Three ski areas across Colorado are actively cranking out their snowmaking while racing toward the earliest opening day. Arapahoe Basin, Loveland Ski Area, and Keystone Resort all continue to tease opening day announcements on their social media pages, but we’re still waiting for an official word.

At this point, none of the three resorts have stated a solid date, though all three have stated or hinted toward an opening day announcement in the near future. Could it be this weekend? At this point it could be too early to tell. The mountains have seen some snow over the past few days and are expected to see some more between Friday and Saturday, but the question is whether or not that, on top of the snowmaking efforts, is enough for at least one trail.

Last year both Arapahoe Basin and Keystone Resort opened on November 2nd, while Loveland started spinning lifts on November 9th. Wolf Creek Ski Area opened on October 22nd in 2024, but it doesn’t look like they have the snow to repeat that this year.

It is almost that time folks… our opening date is still TBD but ASAP! In the meantime, reminisce on some past opening weeks with us.” – Arapahoe Basin

So will the Colorado ski season start this weekend? We’ll just have to wait and see. It seems very possible, especially with all of the posts hinting toward something soon, that we’ll at least get an opening day announcement in the coming days. Whether that’ll be this weekend or next, nobody knows except for those behind the scenes!
