Donny Pelletier grabs first tracks at Deer Valley.

Maine’s finest skier Donny Pelletier took to the grass-and-dirt-covered slopes of Deer Valley Resort in Utah to claim first tracks on the resort’s brand new massive terrain expansion. Earlier this week he shared his conversations with COO of Deer Valley Todd Bennet and the head of Mountain Operations while checking out the building process on the brand new gondola. Now we’ve been given the opportunity to actually see what he thinks of the new trails (though they are missing a certain amount of snow…).

Deer Valley Resort Expansion

The 2025-26 ski season will bring the opening of a massive terrain expansion at Deer Valley Resort. The East Village Gondola will start at the new East Village and connect to Park Peak with a mid-station at Big Dutch Peak. Once complete, the gondola will be nearly 3 miles long and feature 40 total lift towers. The 14.5-minute ride will take 3,000 people per hour up the mountain.

The resort is adding over 3,700 acres of new skiable terrain to the mountain. Once complete, Deer Valley will be one of North America’s largest ski resorts. 2,000 new acres and nearly 100 new ski runs will cover the mountain once the 2025/26 ski season begins. Once they’ve completed the entire expansion, 5,726 acres of skiable terrain will be accessible. An efficient network of 37 chairlifts and 238 ski runs across 10 mountain peaks will be available at Deer Valley.
