Lindsey Vonn made a major announcement that is shaking the Alpine Skiing world with the confirmation that Aksel Lund Svindal will join her team as coach for the upcoming Olympic season.
“There are very few people I the world I would trust when it comes to line, technique, and equipment. Aksel is absolutely one of them.”
Aksel Svindal is two-time Olympic champion and five-time world champion. The Norwegian retired after winning silver in downhill at the 2019 world championships. He will begin coaching Vonn at a training camp in Chile later this summer. Together the two ski racing legends have combined total of 118 World Cup victories and 218 podiums.
Couldn’t think of a better addition to Lindsey’s team as she prepares for the Milan-Cortina Olympics in Italy. This is a match made in heaven. Let’s go Lindsey!
Lindsey Vonn:
Excited to finally announce that Olympic Champion Aksel Lund Svindal will be joining my team as a coach and equipment strategist for the upcoming season!
Our careers have interlinked for so many years and we have a great friendship with a lot of respect for each other. Plus, since as we have both been long time HEAD Skis athletes, the partnership makes perfect sense.
Throwing back to when we both won overall titles back in 2008, shared super global in 2012 and even retired (the first time) at the same time in 2019, we’ve known each other for a long time.
Super excited for the journey ahead… Let’s go!
