Riding through an abandoned mine in Slovenia.

Mountain biking can be pretty intense on standard outdoor trails, with serious drops and technical obstacles presenting serious fall risks, but the Black Hole Trail in Mežica, Slovenia, takes it to a different level.

The Black Hole Trail is completely underground taking riders through an abandoned mine. Is an expert trail and requires riders to have a full suspension mountain bike with at least 140mm of travel. Plus a powerful bike light is required so riders can see what’s ahead of them.

Rich Payne with the Global Mountain Bike Network gave the trail a shot, riding through its narrow halls and sharp turns. Some points even require him to duck as the celing is too low.
