Argentina — While Chile has had a solid start to the ski season, things are moving at a slower pace for Argentina’s ski industry. This has resulted in slower openings at Argentinian ski resorts, as places like Cerro Catedral and Las Leñas haven’t been able to open yet. However, this will change soon.
This past weekend, Las Leñas Resort announced that they’ll be opening up for the 2025 ski season on June 28th. An official trail and lift lineup will be announced closer to their opening date.
Situated in the Mendoza province, Las Leñas is one of the largest ski resorts in South America. It’s also the closest ski resort to Buenos Aires, which is the largest city in Argentina. The ski resort has a summit elevation of 3,430 meters (11,253 feet) and a base elevation of 2,240 meters (7349 feet), resulting in a vertical drop of 4035 feet. Las Leñas has 30 trails, 14 lifts, and terrain that’s suitable for all abilities. The ski season typically lasts from June until the end of September, but the lifts sometimes keep operating until October.
