Beaver, Utah — More heartbreaking developments have emerged regarding the Cottonwood Fire’s impact on Eagle Point Resort.
Last night, it was confirmed that the Lower Lodge and nearby condominium buildings have burned down due to the Cottonwood Fire. Photos submitted by a local property owner to KSL’s Devan Masciulli show the Lower Lodge engulfed in flames, and nearby condominium buildings also burnt down. Unconfirmed reports claim that further damage has occurred at the ski resort. With the wildfire being inside the ski resort’s boundary, damage to the terrain seems likely.
For perspective, the Central Utah ski resort has two base areas: Skyline and Canyonside. We know damage occurred at Canyonside, but we are not yet sure about Skyline, which is on the upper mountain.
Another Eagle Point community member has shared footage of the wildfire approaching his cabin. Marc Leduc had a cabin at Eagle Point Resort that was available for Airbnb rentals. His Ring camera captured the flames approaching his cabin.
As of Wednesday morning, the Cottonwood Fire has reached nearly 60,000 acres and is 0% contained.
