Steamboat Springs, Colorado — This past winter, many were mortified by a viral social media post stating that a skier had assaulted a ski coach at Steamboat Resort.

The situation unfolded on January 4, 2025, at Steamboat Resort. The confrontation started after Kaiden Bogda approached a ski coach who was instructing his students in the terrain park. Kaiden reportedly started yelling at the coach, who decided to ski away. He was followed by Kaiden, who continued to yell at the coach some more. While skiing down next to him, Kaiden decided to assault the victim. He allegedly punched the coach three times. The interaction eventually resulted in a collision between the two, with Kaiden then skiing away without sharing his contact information. The coach was later taken to the hospital after suffering a mild concussion.

The social media post above ended up leading to the arrest of Kaiden Bogda, a 21-year-old resident of Steamboat Springs. He was apprehended at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts (ow!) in Steamboat Springs. He initially faced three charges based on what transpired on January 4th.

The Steamboat Pilot & Today reports that Kaiden pleaded guilty to the third-degree assault charge on Wednesday. The other two charges he faces (Reckless Endangerment and Failure to Remain on Scene of a Skier vs. Skier Crash) will be dropped at his sentencing.

With these charges, Kaiden faces a maximum of four years of probation and upwards of sixty days of jail. During the probationary period, he will remain banned from visiting Steamboat Resort and Howelsen Hill. He’s also barred from contacting the coach. His sentencing is scheduled for July 11th.
