Tragic news out of Baxter State Park where the body of 28-year-old Esther Keiderling has been found in a wooded area of Katahdin’s Tableland. Search teams discovered the body around 1:00pm on Wednesday, June 4th.

Esther went missing alongside her 58-year-old father, Tim Keiderling, after departing the Abol Campground for the summit of Mount Katahdin on Sunday, June 1. They were last seen around 10:15am that day while heading toward the summit, and rangers began a search for the duo Monday morning after discovering the Keiderling’s vehicle still in the day-use parking lot.

Tim Keiderling’s body was discovered on Tuesday, June 3rd, at approximately 2:45pm with the help of a Maine Warden Service K9 team. The Maine Warden Service Search and Rescue team, the Maine Warden Service K9 team, the Maine Forest Service, and the  Maine Army National Guard all assisted in the search.
