Ketchum, Idaho — The hotel roster around Sun Valley Resort is about to get more luxurious next year.
Yesterday, Viceroy Hotels & Resorts announced that it will be opening a new hotel in Ketchum. The Harriman will be situated in downtown Ketchum, making it near both Bald and Dollar Mountains. The closest base area to the hotel will be River Run at Bald Mountain. The Harriman is named to commemorate W. Averell Harriman, the Union Pacific Railroad Chairman who created Sun Valley Resort.
The hotel will feature 73 hotel guestrooms and 12 penthouse residences. The hotel will feature a full-service spa, six treatment rooms, an indoor thermal pool, a cold plunge pool, a sauna, steam rooms, a skier concierge service, a restaurant, and conference/event space. On the top floor, there will be a rooftop deck and bar, which will give views of Ketchum, Sun Valley Resort, and the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve.
“The Harriman is a tribute to Sun Valley’s past, but it’s also shaping its future. We want to honor this place’s history while creating something lasting for generations to come,” said Andrew Blank, who is the majority owner of The Harriman project. “This project is deeply personal for me. My family has been connected to Sun Valley for over 50 years, and The Harriman is a celebration of Mr. Harriman’s legacy and a way to reimagine it for a new generation.”
The hotel is being designed by John Davis of Hornberger+Worstell, Mark de Reus and Chris Strahle of de Reus Architects, and Fatima Silva of FDG Design Group.
The hotel is scheduled to open in June 2026.
