Southwest Colorado’s Purgatory Resort announced that it is investing more than $6 million in capital improvements ahead of its 60th anniversary in December 2025.

The ongoing capital improvements for the 2025-26 season include expanding snowmaking to include the bottom of Ray’s Ridge, Blackburn’s Bash, and Legends Bypass to boost snow reliability and allow for earlier and later access to the backside of the resort.

These improvements follow the resort’s announcement to add a new fixed-grip triple chairlift and up to five new ski trails and connectors, all set to break ground this summer. Additionally the mountain will see upgrades to the alpine slide for summer, new HEAD ski and snowboard rental equipment, a new Prinoth Bison snowcat, expanded wifi coverage, and new HD streaming cameras.

“These improvements reflect our long-term commitment to the mountain and to the guests who return to Purgatory year after year. As we look ahead to celebrating six decades of skiing and riding in the San Juan Mountains, we’re proud to invest in the future of outdoor recreation in Southwest Colorado.” – Dave Rathbun, general manager of Purgatory Resort

The mountain will also see an updated Purgatory app with improved maps and features, a refreshed Paradise Pizzeria, and ongoing ski trail and tree run summer maintenance to enhance the ski experience across the mountain. Purgatory’s 2025-26 Power Pass is available now with prices increasing after June 23.
