Mt Hutt in New Zealand.
Mt Hutt in New Zealand.

Great news out of New Zealand where Canterbury’s Mt Hutt Ski Area has announced plans to open two weeks early on May 31st. If that opening date stands true, it’ll mark their first May opening since 2009.

The new opening date is dependent on the conditions, but more incoming weather could make the snowpack even more robust on the mountain. If all goes to plan, the mountain will be open May 31st, June 1st, June 2nd, June 7th, and June 8th before opening daily on June 14th. Closing day for Mt Hutt is currently scheduled for October 12.
