Steepsteep lands on Alex Hackel.
Steepsteep lands on Alex Hackel.

The Swatch Nines is currently happening in Schilthorn, putting some of the most talented freestyle skiers & snowboarders on what can only be described as one of the most creative terrain parks we’ll ever see (as it is every year). At last year’s Swatch Nines, Australian snowboarder Valentino Guseli sent the biggest snowboard air in the history of man. Who knows what kind of highlights we’ll see before this year’s is over.

This is more of a lowlight than it is a highlight, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a wild watch. Professional skier Alex Hackel and YouTuber Nick Riemer (steepsteep) were cruising through the park when Hackel cased a landing and Riemer landed pretty much directly on his neck. Brutal wipeout, but fortunately both guys were okay.

Swatch Nines will continue to run until April 12, with a public day hosted on Saturday for those who want to check out the terrain park and see the talented athletes in person. Until then, we’ll just have to enjoy the highlights as they’re released.
