Utah’s Alta Ski Area has officially surpassed 500 inches of snowfall this season, sitting as the snowiest area in the state and the third snowiest are in the United States so far this season.
22.5 inches of new snowfall landed at the Utah resort on April Fools Day, bringing the resort over 500 inches for the third season in a row and the sixth time in the last nine seasons. Their season total currently sits at 509 inches.
Alta’s base depth is at 147 inches as of April 3, with 3 inches falling over the past 24 hours. Their average season snowfall is 548 inches, while their largest single season ever, the 2022/23 season, reached 903 inches.
Alta Ski Area offers 2,614 acres of skiable terrain with 2,538 vertical feet. Their 118 runs are 55% expert, 30% intermediate, and 15% beginner. The mountain is set to close for the 2024/25 season on April 20.
