Two skiers slide down the chute at Tuckerman Ravine.

As the weather starts to warm up in New England, a spring tradition takes hold. Skiers and snowboarders alike make the hike to the ridge of Tuckerman Ravine on Mount Washington in New Hampshire, hoping to ride some serious late season steeps.

Unfortunately the dangers of the run are ever too real, and people wind up seriously injuring themselves or worse every year. In the below clip, for example, two skiers lose control one after another, both sliding down the entirety of the chute below.

The clip is pretty scary and you can see how horrific a fall in the area could be, especially with the second person in the video. Fortunately both people were alright despite the length of their falls.

Springtime mountain hazards are very real on Mount Washington. They include icefalls & rockfalls, glide cracks/snow holes, refrozen snow surfaces, undermined snow, and wet avalanches. Refrozen snow can cause high speed, long-sliding-falls for skiers and snowboarders in steep terrain.
