One of Vermont’s most popular ski resorts was forced to close over the weekend after powerful ice storm swept through the region. Killington Mountain Resort was closed Sunday due to a power outage and ongoing safety concerns:
“Due to a power outage and ongoing safety concerns, we will be closed today, March 30th. Access remains limited, and is only available via East Mountain Road. Trees are continuing to fall around the mountain, and trails are beginning to refreeze, creating unsafe conditions for guests and staff.”
Killington is reopening today but guests are warned there downed trees on the road to the mountain. East Mountain Road is currently not passable. Find the mountain conditions report from Killington below.

Killington Mountain Resort Operations Update March 31st @ 5:45am:
Hey, skiers and riders!Â
There continues to be down trees on roads to the mountain. Killington Road has reopened however there are reports of some down trees on East Mountain Road, which is not passable at this time. Please drive with caution as you head to the mountain today.
Skies are clearing up this morning and it will be warming up on the mountain throughout the day on Monday. To start the day, temps at the base will be in the high thirties and temps at the summit will be in the low forties. Winds will be increasing over the course of the day with gusts of up to 50 mph. Our team has been working hard overnight and we are continuing to get the mountain into gear.
Due to fallen power lines and downed trees on the mountain, lifts out of Bear Mountain will have a delayed opening with no time estimate. Specifically, the Skye Peak Express, Bear Mountain Quad, Needles Eye Express, Northbrook Quad and Sunrise Triple will not operate until Green Mountain Power is able to address repairs. We are aiming to have lifts spinning this morning out of the K-1, Ramshead and Snowshed base areas. Please take your time heading to the mountain and stay tuned for more updates.
On the bright side, we expect conditions to be enjoyable today. The surface will be soft and spring-like on groomed terrain, and should be in fantastic shape for carving turns. The status of our ungroomed terrain is uncertain at the moment, but thanks to warming temps, patrol should be able to keep open a healthy amount of ungroomed runs for mogul mashing and exploring. Please keep a eye out for areas of thin cover on our ungroomed terrain. Overall, we’ve still got plenty of snow to make a deep run into spring.
Thank you all for you understanding and shout out to our team for keeping The Beast alive! See you tomorrow!
