Child dangling from chairlift rescued using makeshift catch blanket

Incredible moment from the slopes of Spain caught on camera where a group of skiers and staff banded together to save a child dangling from a chairlift.

47-year-old Pedro José Ruiz Tamaral was skiing at Valdesquí Ski Resort in the Sierra de Guadarrama near Madrid on March 15th where heard someone desperately screaming for help. When he turned around he saw a young boy dangling from a chairlift moments away from losing his grip and falling. Pedro quickly alerted staff to the emergency situation while a group of bystanders gathered to help.

A cushion used to wrap a chairlift tower was procured and the group banded together to hold it tight and break the fall using the classic fireman catch blanket technique. In all 15 people participated in this successful rescue and we salute them all for their crisis averting actions. Well done!
