Vincent Barnard falls off the chairlift while sit-skiing.

Sit skier Vincent Barnard shared footage from his process of learning to sit ski, specifically on what can go wrong while boarding chairlifts. In the video posted to his social media, he can be seen losing his balance on the lift, slowly falling forward until he winds up suspended in the air.

Barnard explains that this incident helped him to realize the importance of a safety harness on this sit ski, as without it he likely would have fallen to the ground rather than being suspending in the air until the lifties helped him back up.

Fortunately the lifties were quite helpful during the incident, getting him safely back onto the lift. Barnard is currently fundraising through GoFundMe to purchase a mono-ski for future use. You can learn more and donate here.

Life is full of trial and error, some more exciting than others… Even though this was probably a once in a lifetime event, it did make me realise how important it was to add a safety harness to the mono ski. This kept me dangling upside down until a prompt rescue was conducted by the lift team. 🙏 . Also we fixed the issue with a second anchor line from the top of the seat bucket to keep it in place on the lift. . PS. No one was harmed and I got a good laugh out of it! 😂 .
