Tragic news out of Winter Park Ski Resort where a 20-year-old skier has passed after striking a tree on the mountain.

A report from the Fraser Winter Park Police Department stated that a call came in to the Winter Park Ski Patrol around 10:52am on Tuesday, March 18, reporting that a guest had struck a tree. The incident occurred on the intermediate/advanced run Lupin located in the Parsenn Bowl terrain pod.

Ski Patrol responded immediately and guests on the scene started CPR while waiting for them to arrive. Ski Patrol then took over resuscitation efforts and transported the guest to the Denver Health Winter Park Medical Center. He was pronounced deceased upon his arrival to the hospital.

The victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The individual’s name has not been released to the public.
