This week’s snow storm has already started to bring some snowfall to several areas of Colorado and it’s not expected to stop anytime soon. The National Weather Service is forecasting several inches of snowfall in the mountains throughout the week, with up to a foot possible in some areas.
The expected snowfall forecast has many ski resorts somewhere in the 4-10 inch range between 12pm Tuesday and 6am Friday, March 21. In Southwest Colorado, around Telluride, 6-10 inches of snowfall is expected, while 5-7 inches is expected around Aspen. Around Vail, the range sits between 5-8 inches, while Steamboat Springs is looking at 4-6 inches. In some of the higher altitude portions of the state, the range reaches closer towards a foot.

On the high end amount forecast, or the 10% chance of higher snowfall, some areas of the state could see 18 inches or above. Telluride has a 10% chance of seeing a foot of snow, Aspen 8 inches, Vail 10 inches, and Steamboat Springs 7 inches.

Several areas of the state area currently under winter weather advisory, with heavy snowfall and high winds expected. Traveling should be done with extreme caution. Make sure to plan ahead by checking the COTrip website and weather warnings before hitting the road.
