The Cascade Cart.

When LJ Wilde found out his daughter would be confined to a wheelchair her whole life due to a rare genetic disorder, he first turned towards using a backpack to keep her involved in family adventures. When the backpack system became too much of a battle, creating difficulty and discomfort for his daughter Luciana, Wilde put his mind towards something else.

The story of the Cascade Cart

Gathering basic materials and tools, Wilde built what would eventually become the Cascade Cart, a tandem hiking cart that transfers 75% of weight to a wheel. He and Luci put the cart to the test on a family trip to Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone, where people, sometimes pushing wheelchairs, would run him down to ask where they could get one of their own.

With encouragement from conversations with these strangers, Wilde put down an 11-year career to pursue the creation of Huckleberry Hiking. In June of 2023, a social media post made by a stranger caught the eyes of thousands, all learning about LJ’s work and encouraging a full commitment. Today, the Cascade Cart is available for those who aren’t willing to give up on an adventure.

The Cascade Tandem Hiking Cart features one large fat wheel on the back, built with an external frame that reduces rider sway and keeps weight on the ground. Integrated trekking poles encourage stability and doubles as a kickstand, while a mechanical disk break ensures that the driver stays in control. Plus, the cart can fold ride up and fit in most trunks.

If you still don’t understand how incredible this cart really is, just take a look at the reviews left on the product website. It’s all pretty fantastic.
