Rope drop at Snowbird.
Rope drop at Snowbird.

If there’s one place in the world that’s infamous for wildly crowded rope drops, it’s Snowbird. Somehow the crowds always know when a rope is about to drop, and hundreds of people seemingly appear out of nowhere just to catch fresh tracks.

Watching one of these rope drops from a distance is a sight like no other. Being a part of one of these rope drops is both fun and terrifying at the same time.

You can imagine how much of a pain it is for ski patrol to manage these moments, especially during the insanity of a Mineral Basin rope drop. The swarm of people flying down the mountain all at once really does look like an avalanche.
