Hello committed readers,
My name is Nolan Deck and I began working with Unofficial Networks as an intern back in 2022.
I grew up in the great state of Maine where I skied primarily at Sugarloaf Mountain, in addition to several other local resorts and hills. I spent many of my summers at various summer camps, on lakes and the ocean, and bike touring/packing, culminating in a six week trip across the southern United States.
I moved to Denver for college, where I double majored in Journalism and English. While most of my scholarly time was committed to writing and research, my free time was spent outside enjoying the mountains and skiing as much as I possible could. I began as an intern with Unofficial Networks during my senior year of college.
After graduation I stayed in Denver, writing part time while working in a ski/bike shop. Over the last several years living in Colorado post-grad, I’ve dove deeper into the mountains, reconnected with my love for biking, pushed my hiking abilities further and further, and skied every possible moment.
I started writing full time with Unofficial Networks in 2024. Since beginning with the company, I’ve written thousands of articles on skiing, hiking, biking, national parks, and so much more. I’m incredibly lucky to be working in an industry that I love, and I’m very grateful to have readers that appreciate our timely and factual coverage of the outdoor world.
FUN FACTS:
– I’m a die-hard Boston Bruins fan, as much as that might hurt today.
– I’m terrified of roller coasters.
– I love bowling, even though I’m not very good at it.
– My go-to karaoke song is “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith.
– I played tuba for 7 years of my life.
– I’m the best skier on the mountain.
