Snowboarder rides next to lava flow.

Wild video out of Sicily where a snowboarder climbed up Mount Etna to ride side by side with a 1,000 meter lava flow in what he describes as “the most mind blowing run ever.” Despite the cold mid-winter weather conditions on Europe’s highest volcano, Marco Bassot felt the heat emanating from the from molten rocks during as he made his surreal midnight descent:

“This is real and hot even if we are at 3,100 meter at midnight in full winter.
The highest active volcano in Europe. We are at 3,100 meter close to the main summit of Mount Etna 3.403 meter, Sicily, Italy. This fracture started some days ago and created a huge, intense and impressive lava flow for more than 1,000 meter you can really feel the heat. I’ve seen many things in my 40 years of life but riding side by side of a flowing river of lava was one of the most special, impressive and breathtaking experiences I’ve ever lived.”
