Glacier calves onto a frozen lake.

A calving Portage Glacier in Alaska broke onto the frozen lake below, sending ripples through the ice and stranding two on a rock nearby.

According to Alaska’s News Source, Lauren Jobe began recording the glacier as loud noises began to emanate from the ice. Once the piece broke off, Jobe skated away as fast as she could, copying others nearby by jumping onto rocks to escape the ice.

Some wound up stranded on the rocks after the collapse, but good samaritan ice climbers were able to rescue them. Everyone was able to get off the ice safe and uninjured.
