West Kelowna, British Columbia The owner of Bull Mountain Adventure Park is trying to go change a ski area that’s been closed for over a decade.

Kelowna Capital News reports that the owner of Bull Mountain Adventure Park is looking for investors to help transform Crystal Mountain in West Kelowna, British Columbia. First opened back in 1969 under the moniker Last Mountain, the mountain has gone through various ownership groups over the years. In 2014, the ski area closed after four people were injured from a chairlift malfunction. After that, Don Journeay bought the mountain with the intention of completing the master plan, which was initially developed in the 2000s. However, the pandemic delayed these ambitions.

Currently known as Bull Mountain Adventure Park, the ski area is currently operated in a limited fashion. A small terrain park is located near the base area, and ski tourers can climb up the mountain. However, the chairlifts are standing but not operating.

Its master development plan is featured on a new website. The three phase plan would add new lifts (including high-speed detachable chairlifts), on-mountain facilities, a championship level golf course, biking trails, zipline course, an area for snow tubing, and other activities. In terms of real estate, up to 3801 bed units could be added, which includes 384 single unit family lots, 223 condominium units, 201 hotel rooms, and 94 townhomes.

The first year of development would replace the current day lodge, renovate some lifts, add new lifts, and acquire more ski area infrastructure, like groomers. The second year would include building up more off-slope activities, including the addition of a sound stage to bring in movie and TV productions, as well as airsoft fields.

They state that these plans have received the necessary approval permits from the province.

So far, they’re far away from the $10 million CAD goal, only raising $510 CAD. Click here to learn more about the GoFundMe.
