It’s been a phenomenal day for several Tahoe area ski resorts, with major snowfall totals hitting the slopes and creating some epic conditions.
The Upper Mountain at Palisades Tahoe saw 13 inches of snowfall overnight last night, making for a total of 25 inches in the past 24 hours. As if that wasn’t enough, another 3-7 inches were expected to fall throughout the day today. Palisades Tahoe saw just 15 inches of snowfall throughout all of January, so this is some much needed snow.
Things are looking near just as good over at Sierra-at-Tahoe, where 12 inches of snow fell overnight for a total of 24 inches in the past 24 hours at the summit. Lower down at the base, the resort has seen 17 inches in the past 24 hours. Their forecast predicted some heavy snow throughout Friday as well, so those totals could get quite a bit higher.
Meanwhile Heavenly saw 21 inches over the past 24 hours, making for a total of 26 inches over the last 48 hours. Their season total is now at 155 inches with a base depth around 71 inches.
In short, most Tahoe ski areas saw a solid snowfall through last night and today. There doesn’t look to be much more in the forecast over the next few days, but it should be a good weekend with all that new powder.
