Ski patrol getaway.
Ski patrol getaway.

This guy ducked a rope at Mount Sunapee in New Hampshire, believing that the trail should have been open and that he had every right to take advantage of the snow. Then, when ski patrol stopped him to discuss the situation, he decided that there was no way he was in the wrong and took off down the mountain.

I get that people like to bash on ski patrol as being the “mountain police”, but closed trails exist for a reason. While this guy might have had a good run down the trail, there might be an obstacle or something else that creates a potential danger, or the ski patrol just hadn’t made it that way to ensure that it was safe.

Maybe in Europe it’s ski at your own risk, but here in North America you respect closures and listen to the ski patrollers. It’s for your safety, for their safety, and for the safety of others. Don’t duck ropes.
