A parking spot dispute led to an assault summons at Keystone Ski Resort last week, necessitating a deputy response.
According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, the dispute started after one man parked in a newly open parking spot when another man approached him to demand that he leave. The first man chose to ignore the request, instead continuing to get ready to go skiing with his companion.
The first man and his companion apparently heard the second man say, “We’ll just wait here until they leave.” Believing that the second man may intend to vandalize his car, the first man took a picture of the second man’s license plate, angering the second man.
The second man then confronted the first, pushing him to the ground. When deputies responded, they interviewed the man who did the shoving. He apparently believed that he was entitled to the space as he had been waiting for a parking spot for 20 minutes.
He denied any intention to vandalize the vehicle, but he did admit to the pushing an was issued a summons for assault.
