Biggest Cliff skiing

The late great Jamie Pierre is widely regarded as holding the world record highest ski cliff jump at 255 feet set in 2006 in the backcountry of Grand Targhee, Wyoming. Jamie’s leap was 100% deliberate but there is another skier who unintentionally sent a larger cliff and his record is somewhat disputed around the ski world.

On March 17th, 2008 Norwegian freeskier Fred Syversen was in the Alps filming for an upcoming movie project when he mixed up his lines and inadvertently skied off a 352 foot cliff going 50mph. Fred miraculously survived.

While entirely unintentional, Fred’s 352 foot free fall is indeed the highest cliff ever recorded by a skier.
