Riding powder at Powder Mountain.

Utah’s Powder Mountain is already 100% open, with 5 lifts and 164 trails available to skiers and snowboarders. Their base depth currently sits at 40 inches, and their season total sits at 89 inches. But those totals might get a whole lot deeper over the weekend.

While the snow doens’t seem to have started at the time of writing this (around 2:30pm on Friday), morning reports had a 30% chance of it starting around 2pm on Friday. Much accumulation is likely throughout the day today, but the storm is forecasted to settle over the mountain tonight and bring heaps of snow in over the weekend.

The highest models have Powder Mountain receiving over 2 feet of snow through Sunday night, with a majority of snowfall coming throughout Saturday and Saturday night. According to their own forecast, Friday night could bring 3-7 inches of snow, while Saturday could bring a total of 11-19 inches (6-10″ during the day, 5-9″ at night).

As if that wasn’t enough, Sunday’s forecast has another 3-6 inches possible (though there’s also a chance for some rain). On the low end of the forecast, Powder Mountain is looking at 17 inches of new snow throughout the weekend. On the high end of the forecast, the total could be closer to 33 inches of fresh snowfall, well over two feet.

Since this weekend is the beginning of February, Powder Mountain will be limited to season pass holders only on Saturday and Sunday, keeping the crowds low and the snow fresher throughout. All weekends in the month of February are limited to pass holders only at the Utah resort.
