The Las Vegas Metro Police Department Search and Rescue conducted an operation on Christmas morning, rescuing two climbers stuck in the Pine Creek area.
The two climbers were on the “Olive Oil” route on Christmas Eve when a storm moved in and stopped their movement. High winds made it impossible for search and rescue to conduct operations, and the climbers were forced to stay put overnight.
On Christmas morning at approximately 7 a.m., as weather improved, the AIR1 crew was able to fly in and insert one search and rescue officers. The climbers were extracted with a hoist and brought to the BLM Fire station helipad.
Fortunately both individuals were uninjured. Two barricades and another rescue operation also occured throughout Christmas Eve.
