Killington, Vermont — While Killington wasn’t the first ski resort to make snow in Vermont, the ski resort has become one of the major players. This is exemplified by the approximately 1000 new snowguns being added at Killington & Pico this past offseason and in 2025.
In a video published yesterday, Killington Resort interviewed Snow Surface Manager Dave Lacombe, who’s been a part of the team since 1977. Snowmaking likely started in 1963 at the Snowshed terrain pod. In the video, Dave discusses the early days of snowmaking at Killington, the timeline for expanding the snowmaking from its original location, and the Bear Mountain expansion.
