John Brown’s Subaru Forester XT was the first vehicle he realized he could fix up himself. Since then he has owned between 60 and 70 Subarus over the years. When John wasn’t out competing in big air or slopestyle at the World Cup, he could be found back home during the summers snapping up Subaru after Subaru to fix up, sell and repeat the process.
He can easily draw parallels between the fixing up an engine learning a new trick. Each involve overcoming new challenges that present themselves during the process “you do that enough and you figure out all of the variables. Once you get it perfect it’s freeing.”
Whether it’s a learning a new trick or a building a new engine, John Brown finds purpose in the process.
