Nothing says extreme like ski alpinists that take themselves too seriously, right? Folkrm put together this short mockumentary poking fun at backcountry skiers and themselves, following French ski alpinist Dr. Klaus Kloutman as he experiences the slopes of the United States for the first time.
Kloutman skis the mellow slopes, helps some other people on the mountain discover proper poles, and enjoys some nice wine, cheese, and cigarette to end the day. He makes sure to point out how bad the skiers on American resorts are, too.
“Dr. Klaus Kloutman is a man who needs no introduction. Originating from the Beaumont region of France he is one the most accomplished ski alpinists of modern time. The Folkrm team was able to catch up with him on his first trip to the United States. This film documents his experience. If you need to ask what type of poles he uses…then you’re not good, man.“
If you’re unfamiliar, Folkrm poles feature an extended grip that allow for quick adjustment in different terrains. Rather than actually having to adjust the length of the pole, skiers can just move their hands up and down to find a convenient size. The company has three main pole types, the Wyeast Ski Poles (fixed length), the Pahto Ski Poles (adjustable length), and the Kulshan Adjustable Folding Poles (collapse for split boarders).
