Views of ski resorts in France.

Planning a European ski trip comes with some difficulties. One of the most difficult: figuring out where to go. Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, and plenty of other countries throughout Europe have top level ski resorts that would be incredible for a European ski trip. When it comes to the most popular for North Americans, though, France might top the list.

So beyond the fact that these resorts are in different countries, exist in different cultures, and are centered around different languages, how is skiing in France different from skiing in the rest of Europe? European ski instructor Marius Quast took a look.

He points out several factors, from how built up the ski villages are, to how the French resorts aren’t focused on grooming as much as Austrian resorts. He also states that ski passes in France tend to be cheaper than some other countries, and that the ski culture seems to be more focused on the après ski experience than it does in some other countries.
