Professional skier and artist Chris Benchetler was pulled in to create the 60th Anniversary Grateful Dead logo, as the band reaches 60 years old in 2025. To celebrate his work, the Grateful Dead shared a video of Chris discussing what the band and the art meant to him, and why he went with the designs he went with.
Benchetler has worked with the Grateful Dead in the past, creating the film Fire on the Mountain with Teton Gravity Research several years ago. His work has also been featured in the Dead & Company‘s shows at the Las Vegas Sphere, and he’s working on a new immersive project called Mountains of the Moon that’s set to release in Fall 2025.
