December 1st marked the beginning of meteorological winter and Direct Weather’s reading of various models is predicting a pattern for the rest of December which will be good news if you’re a snow and cold weather lover.

Recent model updates have shifted away from warmer trends, favoring a more neutral to cold outlook for much of the Central and Eastern United States. This change brings multiple snow opportunities, even extending further south and east than usual.

Heading into late December, Direct Weather is calling for a dip in Arctic air that could dive deep into the South, affecting states like Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Several snow systems are predicted, including a potential East Coast snowstorm around Christmas. While modeling decreases in accuracy with time, the possibility of a white Christmas for some regions remains on the table.

Direct Weather Christmas Weather Bulletpoints:

  • More snow is expected across the Northern Plains, Midwest, Appalachians, and potentially the East Coast.
  • Deep freezes could bring brutally cold temperatures, especially as we approach Christmas.
