Rangeley, Maine — It seemed like a quiet offseason at Saddleback.
After making transformative changes since its 2020 reopening, like adding new lifts (high-speed quad and t-bar), a new mid-mountain lodge, an employee house complex, and more, Saddleback didn’t provide many updates on improvements for this coming winter until recently. Surprisingly, it turns out a lot of improvements were made this offseason at Maine’s Favorite Mountainâ„¢.
This week, Saddleback General Manager Jim Quimby detailed the projects he and his team have worked on this offseason. This work includes repairs to the older chairlifts, increasing their snowmaking fleet by 75% this year, adding snowmaking to prior chokepoints (areas that saw less coverage in prior seasons), mowing of the trails and glades, expanding services at The Nest, the opening of a new retail shop (Base Camp Supply), the old retail shop is now home to hard goods (i.e. skis, boots, helmets), and the acquisition of a Wintersteiger machine for the tuning shop.
Saddleback’s opening date is tomorrow, December 6th.
