Brighton, Utah — An off-duty paramedic saved the life of a skier.

This past Sunday, a skier was shredding the new snow at Brighton when he fell and hit his head. Although he fell below the chairlift, it’s been confirmed by Brighton Resort that he didn’t fall off the lift and was skiing when the incident occurred. An off-duty paramedic found the seventeen-year-old passed out and without any signs of vitals, resulting in the individual beginning CPR. Brighton’s ski patrol then arrived and took over CPR. The teenager eventually regained consciousness.

Jared Wrinkler, who is the director of marketing at Brighton, issued the following statement to KSL TV:

“Fortunately, the skier regained consciousness and stood up, visibly shocked and disoriented. It took a moment to calm him down and explain what had happened.”

This situation was visible from above, as a snowboarder submitted a photo to KSL TV that showed the situation. The image shows ski patrollers and various bystanders around the downed skier.

After being checked out by paramedics at the skier clinic, he was taken to the hospital for further evaluation. He was reportedly released from the hospital on Monday afternoon.

Shout out to paramedics, whether on or off duty, for your hard work.
