Banff, Alberta- One of Canada’s fanciest lifts is now open.

On November 16th, Banff Sunshine Village opened the brand-new Super Angel Luxury Express (LX). This replaced the old Angel Express, which opened in 1988 and was a detachable high-speed quad chairlift. It closed on May 12th and was sold to Castle Mountain Resort.

The Angel Express was replaced by a detachable high-speed six-pack bubble chairlift. Some of the main features of the Super Angel LX include comfy individual seats, footrests, and a yellow bubble cover that helps protect you from the elements. The chairlift has an uphill carrying capacity of 2400 people per hour thanks to its 74 bubble chairs. The chairlift has a five-minute ride time and a vertical rise of 1214 feet. The Leitner-Poma chairlift features EVO premium technology, which provides a faster and smoother ride thanks to eliminating the typical gearbox featured on chairlifts. This is Banff Sunshine Village’s second bubble chairlift. Their first, the Teepee Town Express, opened back in 2015.

This isn’t the only new bubble chairlift opening in Banff this winter. The Pipestone Express Chair at Lake Louise Ski Resort will open later this ski season.
