Every skier and snowboarder around the country is eager to see the ski season get going (except those near Wolf Creek, their season has already begun). While warm temperatures are sadly inbound for much of Maine, the state’s greatest athlete Donny Pelletier got tired of waiting for Sunday River to start making snow, so he decided to do something about it.
Both Sunday River and Sugarloaf did a bit of snowmaking this weekend as temperatures got rather low, to the point where both mountains had a nice dust of white covering many of the visible trails. Sadly both mountains will see some rather warm weather later this week, with Sunday River potentially reaching above 60°F on Thursday and Friday.
Neither resort has an opening day set in stone quite yet, but hopefully colder temperatures are on the way for snowmaking to continue. Sunday River opened on November 14th last season. Fingers crossed we see a similar opening day this year!
