Verbier, Switzerland — If you plan to ski in Europe this winter, have lots of money to spend, and want a place to rest with a view, one option is to head to the Tortin Glacier.
Last week, it was announced that a new remote lodge is opening atop the Tortin Glacier, part of the Les 4 Vallées. The three-bedroom, three-bathroom Cabane Tortin chalet is situated 9500 feet above sea level, directly located above the Tortin Glacier and the Swiss town of Verbier.
Luxury is on the menu there, with a personal chef that prepares meals, picnics, and wines from their cellar for apres. The concierge service gives spa treatments and itineraries for guests. The first floor features a log-burning fireplace, a large living room, and an open-concept kitchen. The upstairs includes an outside deck and double ‘pod’ bedrooms. The staff’s quarters are situated on the basement level. Cabane Tortin can accommodate up to eight guests.
Advanced and expert skiers and riders will love the location. The ski-in/ski-out chalet gives guests instant access to ungroomed steep terrain, which includes powder and moguls.
The building was designed by architect Snorre Stinessen, who got inspiration from the rugged mountain range. The Scandi-design energy-efficient chalet has solar panels, a pellet, and a stove and gets water from a natural mountain spring.
The chalet is available for bookings of a minimum three-night stay. The total price for staying three nights is $70,000 USD. This price point includes a private chef who cooks three meals daily, concierge staff, ski equipment, and a mountain guide who will show you around. If you bring more than eight guests, there’s an additional charge per person.
The chalet will open on December 15, 2024. If you’re looking to stay there this winter, you can contact office@cabanetortin.com.
