Last winter, snowboarder Zenja Potapovand filmer Joonas Mattila joined forces to create this unique snowboard film titled “Snappy Boarder” which fuses highly technical park riding with a bit of science fiction. The entire film was shoot at Levi Ski Resort in Finland where it debuted over the weekend.
“A ton of hard work went into every trick landed, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we accomplished together.”
Lots of incredibly creative riding (hip checking into the halfpipe, thats certainly new) and an implied alien abduction. This wild, so much to love!
Snappyboarder is a short snowboarding film that reflects Zenja’s journey in the sport, showcasing dedication and growth that have shaped his unique skills on the board.
This film aims to bring riding, cinematography, and sound together in a cohesive way that feels genuine and engaging.
Starring Zenja Potapov, aka Snappyboarder himself, the film carries his name and personal significance. Zenja is known for his crazy board and mind bending tricks, which he calls Snappys. Filmmaker Joonas Mattila dived deep into the roots of Snappys and perhaps found the source during the filming process.
Filmed during winter 2024 at Levi Ski Resort, especially in South Park, which provided an ideal playground for Zenja to showcase his tricks.
Huge respect for the whole Park Crew keeping all the features in really good shape throughout the season! Eero Nieminen’s contributions in music composition and sound design greatly enriched the overall experience. A special mention also to Waltteri Kivelä for his imaginative visual effects, which added another unique layer to the film. A genuine thank you to everyone who helped to make this project a reality.
We hope you enjoy this simple yet meaningful journey.
