The Apple Vision Pro became available in the United States this past winter, launching to the public in February. With any new product, there’s bound to be a bit of skepticism and hesitation to purchase, and that seemed to be fairly true with these goggles. I personally know nobody who’s purchased them, at least not yet.
But now that it’s September, maybe people have gotten more comfortable with the idea. And now that we’re headed into a new ski season, maybe more people will be curious how they work as goggles. Ali Salman took a pair on the mountain this past winter, testing out their potential for skiing and snowboarding.
So they kind of work. Doesn’t seem all that surprising to me. But they don’t really seem to provide any benefit to skiing or snowboarding. So while they might have the ability to function like ski goggles, my hope is that nobody’s actually willing to bring them on the mountain both out of caution for the technology and because they don’t want to look like… well, that. We don’t need more major distractions on the mountain.
