Chile – If there’s one thing I know about Mountain Capital Partners, it’s that they love extending their mountain’s ski seasons. This time, they’re making it happen in the Southern Hemisphere.
Originally scheduled to close on October 6th, Valle Nevado will now close for the season on October 20th. Currently, nearly all of their trails are open, and eleven of their twelve lifts are operating.
It was an exciting season at Valle Nevado. Mountain Capital Partners acquired the next door La Parva, meaning they now own two of the three ski resorts that are apart of Tres Valles. Various upgrades were made before the season, including a renovation of the gondola, more snowmaking, and opening a new on-mountain restaurant.
Valle Nevado saw a lot of snow in the early season, with an earlier than expected opening date of May 31st, three weeks ahead of schedule. They saw some mind numbing snow totals at times during this ski season, with six feet in seven days in June. Overall, they have received 671 cm (roughly 261 inches) of snowfall this winter.
I’m curious to see what happens next at Valle Nevado. Mountain Capital Partners likes to spend money, and they’ve got a wishlist.
