Australia – It was another season to forget in the Land Down Under.
The season started slow, with delayed openings at most Australian ski resorts. However, the snow arrived in July, leading to mint conditions. Cold weather allowed for an extensive snowmaking stretch, leading to some quality skiing on the groomed runs in late July and early August. Unfortunately, a warm, windy, and rainy stretch in the last few weeks of August resulted in early closures for nearly all Australian ski resorts.
This past weekend, Reggae Ellis from Mountainwatch broke down the winter in their season recap video, which features some sweet footage from the most memorable days on the slopes.
However, Australia’s season isn’t over yet. Perisher remains open, with fifteen trails (most of which are groomed) and ten lifts operating. A closing date for Perisher has yet to be announced.
