Ketchum, Idaho — After revitalizing Warm Springs last winter by opening two new chairlifts, Sun Valley is shifting its focus this summer to Seattle Ridge.
This summer, Sun Valley Resort is replacing the detachable high-speed quad chairlift that serviced Seattle Ridge. The new Doppelmayr six-pack high-speed chairlift will carry 20% more passengers uphill than its predecessor. The Doppelmayr chairlift has a direct drive, meaning that it will be smooth and move swiftly. The Seattle Ridge chairlift services beginner and expert terrain. In addition, they’re thinning out 91 acres in the Sunrise area for more glade skiing.
In July, the lift towers were installed via helicopter.
Yesterday, Sun Valley provided the latest construction update. They’re replacing the power lines to provide faster electricity for this new chairlift. All the lift towers are now installed, and the terminals are currently being built up.
The new Seattle Ridge chairlift is on track to open during the 2024-25 season.
